20 things about me

1. My real name is Autumn Sky (well, my first and middle.)
2. I live in California with the most amazing boy ever, and we are getting married on June 27th of this year -- the soon-t0-be best day of my life.
3. I love to sing.
4. I play over fourteen instruments.
5. I wanted to be a writer when I grew up, then I found music.
6. I'm in love with design...home, fashion, graphics, and photography make me ridiculously happy.
7. I like to re-decorate every couple of months.
8. My hair is naturally dark blonde. It has not been this color in almost seven years.
9. I've had every color of hair that is in the natural spectrum, and some off of the natural spectrum -- blue streak in the hair during high school anyone?
10. I was a professional dancer for awhile in high school before I hurt my back.
11. Nowadays I'm a professional singer/songwriter. I'm not famous, but I've started getting paid for shows lately -- hey, it's a start! ;p
12. I like sunrises and sunsets, I can't decide between them. The sun is beautiful!
13. I love photoshoots, they're a lot of fun. I do them myself sometimes.
14. I always have Burts Bee chapstick, a tiny notebook, a pen and a camera.

15. I am the oldest of seven children. We are not Mormorn and we are not Catholic. We're non-denominational christians and my parents just really liked eachother.

16. Listen to my music here: http://www.myspace.com/autumnskymyspace.
17. Pushing Daisies was going to be my new favorite show, because I loved Chuck -- then they had to go and cancel it! Boo!
18. If I didn't sing I would be a chef. I love to cook. I'm going through a Spanish phase right now.
19. I love to knit, I'm working on a blue scarf as we speak.
20. I have never voluntarily worn pants to a show -- ever. Pants are weird and make me feel like a boy.

Thanks everybody! I'm off to clean my room, the boy got a drum set yesterday and I have to figure out where to fit the futon in our teeny tiny room!

Wanted Dead Or Alive

Look how cute we are! We took these in the mall the other week. Tomorrow is Saturday -- FARMERS MARKET MORNING :) I am so excited I could scream. More pictures of that tomorrow!

Somewhere Only We Know

We went walking in the fairy forest we discovered behind the park today, when (alas!) my darling library closed and we got there half an hour too late. Good thing the walk was worth it, look at all the spots we found for pictures along the trail! And the boy and I even got take out afterwards. So, naturally, it was the perfect day.

She and Him

Me looking less pale than usual! ...yeah, I know. I'm really pale.

Before the duel.

I think he won the duel.

The things that lurk...

I wish I was braver, but I'm not really. At least not when it comes to movies. When it comes to shows, music is my life. If I'm not brave, I don't get my dream. And so I'm brave, because music is all I know. If I lost my chance a peice of me would die.

But with movies, I don't know what it is. I think I'm just more sensitive to visual stuff than most people. Once, when I was twleve, I went to my friend Kayla's birthday party, and we played soccer all day until nighttime. Then we slipped Edward Scissorhands into the VCR, and everyone fell asleep but me, because I was absolutely terrified of what I was seeing. I spent the next three months afraid of going to the bathroom, convinced that Edward Scissorhands (a perfectly innocent character!) was lurking behind the curtains, waiting for me to sit down on the toilet so he could cleave me in two.

I know. I was a charming little child.

And even nowadays, watching horror films stick with me. Like humid air in the summer, it crawls under my skin and makes me feel distressed. Once, after watching Hannibal, I tried to go to sleep and instead I just broke into tears because it had unsettled me so much. It's not that I'm afraid of what's in the closet -- I'm old enough to know now that nothing is in my closet but dresses (cute dresses!) Instead, it's the things that lurk in the corners of my own mind that frighten me. It's terribly upsetting to know that there's no where you can hide where you can't find yourself.

So, in the meantime, I'm trying to get better at not eating sugar before bed while watching things that might scare me (I have nightmares when I eat sugar before bed.) At least my dentist will be pleased to know it's stopped me from eating candy! Grr.

So...what's going on with my nowadays? All good things, I assure you. I still have a job - check! I love both my jobs - check! I still have a home - check! And Matt and I have finalized our wedding date -- June 27th. :)

I'm thinking about a Big Fish-inspired motif, from the scene in the town with the canopy of lights, where everyone is wearing pastels, and also from the circus scene. I know circus's are huge hotbeds of animal abuse and crazy people, but honestly, it's always seemed a little romantic to me. When I was in high school and really into dance competitions, I once toyed with the idea of being in the circus. I still think it could be fun...but don't count me out of music yet, haha!

Recording on Sunday, final mixing on the 20th, and the release show on the 24th of April -- all this while I'm planning a tour for July!

Wish me luck, and I love you all.

Good afternoon!

The boy and I hosted our engagement party for close friends and familys, and it was a big success. However, now we have so much leftover pie and cake, we won't eat another vegetable until next week.

I aquired a violin from my aunt Serena yesterday, as well. I posted a little note on my myspace a couple days ago sighing that I really wanted to find a violin and a banjo. One down, one more to go!

Hopefully I'll be able to whip something up to play at the show on Thursday (Fox and Goose in Sacramento, 8:00pm, no cover, 21+.)

As far as other things that are going on, I've aquired two or three new interviews on the schedule, and I just had a sit-down with Andy from El Dorado Hills Village Life. He was really nice and very interesting and informed, and I really enjoyed our chat. He's definitely had a lot of experiance touring, and I need all the tips I can get to make the tour I'm planning a success.

Oh, yeah. Did I not tell you? I'm going on tour this summer with a San Francisco band called The Traditionalist. Northern California to Oregon to Washington -- so exciting! Especially because my music gets great reviews from people up north. They really love acoustic, stripped-down sounds there, and I love making music the old fashioned way more than I can tell.

I also got some pictures (un-finished) back from Jesse Vasquez for the album cover, here are a few I'm considering for the cover...

Which should I choose?
